Shallow waters and beautiful walleyes and jumbo perch

Writer's picture: Walleye WylieWalleye Wylie

Fishing has been heating up in the shallows. Different techniques have been producing lots of quality fish. I have been starting the morning casting 1/16th oz and 1/8th oz jigs tipped with a night crawler in 10 ft of water. As the day moves on, we transition to spinner blades painted by JG's custom lures, tipped with a leech or crawler in 10-20 ft of water. Towards the evening, I will put on shallow diving crank baits like a shad rap number 5, and troll with them at 2 mph in less than 13-15ft of water. We've been getting lots of strong wind and sunny days, so the weeds are just starting to grow.

Dates are still available for guide trips here in June and July!!
